Wednesday Wanderings – a Group Exhibition by the Wednesday Painting Group

Wednesday Wanderings

Our Wednesday Painting Group has created a beautiful and nature-inspired body of work that is now on display at the heritage centre.

The Group

At Land of Oak & Iron, we run popular acrylic painting courses in partnership with Katherine Rodger, which take place on Wednesdays and in four week blocks. These are aimed at beginners and improvers, so you can have a little bit of experience under your belt or be completely new to the medium. As our courses are so successful, we run regular exhibitions of our student’s work, which gives them the confidence to move forward with their skills and passion for painting. If you want to support up and coming artists, coming to the exhibition and grabbing yourself a unique one-off piece is a perfect way to do it.

Our painters are all inspired by nature, including the surrounding beauty of the Derwent Valley. With the help of Katherine they’ve developed their skills, grown confident and now have their own unique styles. Encouraging this individuality has been vital to creating such a meaningful experience for all our artists. We’ve received a lot of great feedback from our artists on the sessions we’ve run – check out what they had to say!

All artworks in the exhibition ‘Wednesday Wanderings’ are available to buy from the heritage centre.

“Kath’s caring, cool, constructive coaching creates confidence, conversation, creativity and cracking creations.” Christina

One painting is of a cottage next to a stream and surrounded by greenery, the other is a sunset scene on a lake framed by trees. This painting also has a family of ducks paddling in the water.

“It has been a wonderful journey, from attempting my first acrylic landscape to having the opportunity to display my paintings at Land of Oak & Iron. I have learned so much from Kath, who is helpful and encouraging.” Heather
