Discover the imaginative ‘Big Small Nature Club’ with local illustrators Josie Brookes and Tom Madge in our Inside Out Gallery exhibition.
Josie and Tom are a duo of illustrators from Newcastle upon Tyne. They love to create bold, colourful images using a mix of drawing, print, collage and digital art that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
The ‘Big Small Nature Club’ exhibition is a collection of original mixed media collage pieces and limited Edition Risographs. Additional prints and products are available in the shop.
Imagine you have shrunken down to the size of an ant…or grown as big as a forest! Could you put your new size to good use, help a plant or animal?
Josie & Tom have been out exploring and have spotted all these amazing helpful acts…and couldn’t resist drawing the scenes to share with you!
Each picture captured a moment a member of the ‘Big Small Nature Club’ heroically stepped in and was a great friend to someone, or something, just at the right moment!
The ‘Big Small Nature Club’ encouraged us to use our special skills to support others – especially our friends in nature like the animals and wildlife we see around us! Sometimes we go to the woodlands or rivers. Sometimes help is needed on land, and other times high up in the sky. Wherever it may be, we know that a helping hand goes a long way to saving the day!
Josie is also running some fantastic workshops for both adults and children. To find out more and book:

Josie and Tom’s art exhibition can be viewed from our Courtyard, to the rear of the Heritage Centre, in our ‘Inside Out Gallery’. All framed artworks and prints are available to purchase — please speak to a member of our team for more information
