Event Details

We have a new Halloween event, especially for our canine friends!  Howl-O-Ween (we love the title!)

Alongside our popular ‘Painted Pumpkin Trail’ (see separate listing) we have planned a lovely little event on Sunday 29th October for your dogs to come along to.

Autumn Dog Walk at 1.30pm: Join Heather with your pooch on a walk through the beautiful lower Derwent Valley and back to the Heritage Centre again.

Heather is our friendly local dog warden and she can tell you all sorts of interesting things … did you know different coloured leads have different meanings? Heather can also give advice about dog socialisation and will try to answer any questions you may have about dog walking in the area.

Spaces are limited, please book a free ticket here (there may be a few places available on the day).

Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade at 3pm: Bring your pooch dressed up in a spooky costume and enter our parade – it’s a lot of fun, will make everyone smile and the best dressed dog will win a doggie prize!  Limited places, so please book soon – you can enter online here.

Stalls: From 10am there will be some doggie themed stalls too with David’s Dog Deli for their home-baked doggie goodness, Lindsey of Scribble & Patch who creates beautiful paw (or baby/child’s hand) print ceramics (book a place using link below), Lorna Jackson’s Blue Tyne Crafts with her lovely hand-made textile pumpkins and ‘Trick or Treat’ goodie bags, Mossy Coat Creations with items inspired by nature, folktales and mythology, including pumpkin wreaths, mystery boxes and Halloween décor, alongside witchy potion bottles and incense holders, and illustrator Jasmine from JLH Print with dog inspired T-Shirts, bags, earrings and more!
Scribble & Patch are taking bookings now with a little gift for the 1st ten people who book in, so be quick!  Here’s the link: Howl-O-Ween Land Of Oak and Iron Dog Paw Print Event | Facebook
Trick for a Treat: Ask your pooch to do a paw shake or trick for one of team members, to be rewarded with a little doggie treat!
We would love to see photographs or films of your spooky pooch at the Heritage Centre – so please upload to our Facebook page with the tag #howloweenoakandiron for a chance to be our ‘Dog of the Month’.
More details of Howl-O-Ween coming soon as we plan the details, so pop the date in your diary and watch this space and our Facebook page for updates!
