Care for your local waterway
Learn new surveying skills to help you monitor the water quality in your local river or stream. Free training is being delivered by Tyne Rivers Trust for people living in Shotley Bridge, Chopwell, Stocksfield and surrounding areas. Training will be carried out before April 2020.

“I like the sense of giving something back and learning new skills. I have a long involvement in the countryside and rural life but wasn’t taught to use saws etc when I was younger. I love seeing new woodlands, particularly the private ones – I’ve lived in the area for 30 years  and never been to Putties Wood before.”

Join our Wildlife Group
Learn how to identify and survey for wildlife in our area at regular monthly activities run by Durham Wildlife Trust. Some of these activities are family friendly, all are free. Explore your local area and share your wildlife sightings to help us build up a record of what can be found in Land of Oak & Iron.
