We are really pleased to host this new art exhibition ‘The World We Live In – Past & Present’ by Winlaton Art Group.
The selected artworks depict the local area showing the beautiful countryside of the Derwent Valley and also the industrial heritage of the area.
Winlaton Art Group was established in 1947 with two of its founder members James Egan and Peter Craig. Mr Egan’s daughter followed in her fathers footsteps and was a member for many years. His granddaughter is still an active member in the club today.
In those days the club was known as ‘Winlaton Sketching Club’, as pencils were the only material available to them. Now of course, members can choose to use many materials, for example oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolours and of course pencils, as shown in the range of artworks on display in the exhibition.
Members of the Art Club range in age – between early twenties and early eighties, with a wide range of experience and abilities.
One common trait that binds the artists together is the enjoyment and challenge of producing art.
We hope that you will also enjoy looking at their artworks too.
All artworks are available to purchase at very affordable prices – so if would like to purchase an original artwork for your home, please ask a member of staff.
The exhibition is on until 28th April.
