It’s been a while but we’re really pleased to welcome the Time Bandits are back!
Come and join the amazing Time Bandits at the Heritage Centre as they bring history alive with the story of the English Civil War.
1644: The Civil War rages and the fate of the North, so far loyalty to King Charles hangs in the balance. The Marquis of Newcastle’s army – his famous Whitecoats have been virtually annihilated at Marston Moor and now a vast army of Scots is laying siege to Newcastle, defended by Sir John Marley with a handful of militia.
Many of the swords used will have been manufactured at Shotley Bridge. The Time Bandits will have two fully uniformed interpreters, Cromwellian cavalry and Border Mosstrooper – these infamous grandsons of the Reivers were the Scottish light cavalry, and notoriously light fingered!
There will be swords, and there will be guns, and there will be armour and all manner of warlike gear for you to take a closer look at and discover all about the Civil War and the effect it had on the local area.
