Remembrance Poppy Workshop

Event Details

For this year’s Remembrance, join our resident Derwent Threads in creating a Remembrance Poppy to add to our giant poppy wreath.

“The red poppy is a well-known and well-established symbol, one that carries a wealth of history and meaning, of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.” (Royal British Legion)

The lovely ladies of Derwent Threads will show you how to create a fabric poppy using very simple sewing techniques, which you can then add to the giant poppy wreath that they have been creating to go on display at the Heritage Centre.

You will then have new skills to create your own poppies at home either for a poppy brooch or to create your own fabric poppy wreath,

This is a free, drop-in event suitable for all abilities – children can also come along but will need to be supervised at all times by their own adult as we will be using sewing needles.

Please come along and help to create our poppy wreath to commemorate this year’s Remembrance Day.

Our café will be open as usual and you are welcome to purchase a cuppa to enjoy while being creative.
