Event Details

Enjoy music in the courtyard at Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre as part of our Heritage Open Days celebrations – hear traditional folk tunes from the local area.

Live performances outside in the courtyard, with sessions being played between 12 noon and 4.30pm (subject to weather) from three local musicians and bands.

‘Scoops n Smiles’ will also be selling lots of lovely flavours of ice cream from their heritage ice cream van too!  So lets hope for sunshine so we can eat ice-cream whilst enjoying an afternoon of local songs and tunes!

café shrub will be open for take-out and table service (limited tables due to social distancing).

Kiddars Luck at Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre Mini-Music Festival
Kiddar’s Luck specialise in songs and tunes from our region but also play their own material. The band are John Dixon, Colin McLelland and Alan Beadle; they play a number of instruments including guitar, whistle, banjo and mandola.
Bill Elliott has played traditional and contemporary folk music for over 30 years in folk clubs, festivals and concerts along with being a regular performer at Beamish. Bill is one of the ‘Elliott’s of Birtley’ and is known locally and nationally for North East mining heritage songs.
Ken Tonge is a seasoned folk singer with over 50 years of clubs, festivals and concerts behind him. He has played in several popular folk bands as well as having an extensive individual repertoire. Ken has made several CDs over the years both solo and with different bands. He is currently the leader of ‘Hop, Skiffle and Jump’.
