Come and meet Lindsey Cooper at the Heritage Centre for the next of our ‘Meet the Maker’ events.
“I’ve been creative for as long as I can remember, drawing, painting and making things from an early age. I studied art at college during the 1970s and became serious about it many decades later! Born in South Yorkshire I now live in Northumberland, having studied in Newcastle I loved the area so much I stayed.
As a painter and printmaker I am lucky to live in Hexham where access to both the countryside and the coast, and therefore a never ending source of inspiration, is a short drive away.
I paint in acrylics on canvas, sea and the coastline being a favourite subject that I find I return to again and again.
My lino prints are handprinted using oil based ink on Japanese paper. Lino print is a relatively new passion and I have discovered a love of the whole process, from design to handcarving the lino to printing the final image. The challenge for me is in the mark making, using different marks to represent very diverse subjects, from buildings to fluffy seed heads, using the same basic tools – it’s a wonderful and creative puzzle!” – Lindsey Cooper
Lindsey will be available to chat about her wonderful lino print products at her solo Meet the Maker event day.
A selection of Lindsey’s products are available to purchase for a short period in our shop or directly from Lindsey on her Meet the Maker day.
