Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the next of our regular ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill.  Our next Meet the Maker is with artist Joanne Rowland.

Joanne Rowland specialises in creating pet portraits and wildlife art in a variety of mediums, including realistic portraits in coloured pencil or acrylic, colourful, modern portraits in pen and ink, and little graphite sketches.

Joanne lives on the borders of Durham and Northumberland with the very fabulous Mr R and two crazy and cheeky Romanian rescue dogs, otherwise known as Creative Assistants #1 & #2.

She loves creating portraits and art for people that they will love and enjoy for many many years to come.  She also draws inspiration from the love of dogs, the wildlife and live stock around her, as well as her experiences from various trips to the South African game reserves

Joanne describes herself as a self taught, ‘accidental artist’ after being gifted an art set for Christmas 2015!  She rediscovered a love of drawing, that hadn’t been seen since school, over 30 years previously. 

Her work, both private commission and wildlife, is now held in many countries across the world.

Come along to the Heritage Centre on Saturday 19th March 10am – 4pm to meet Joanne in person, buy some of her artwork or maybe even commission her to do a special pet portrait.

Some of Joanne’s artworks and prints are also available to purchase for a limited period in the Heritage Centre shop.

‘Meet the Maker’ will be outside under cover of the gazebo unless the weather is cold/rainy – in which case it will be situated in the foyer area inside the Heritage Centre.
