Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the next of our regular ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill with Winlaton Art Group.
Winlaton Art Group was established in 1947. Two of its founder members were James Egan and Peter Craig, (Mr Egan’s daughter followed in her fathers footsteps and was a member for many years, his granddaughter is still an active member in the club today.)
In those days the club was known as ‘Winlaton Sketching Club’ as pencils were the only material available to them. Now of course members can choose to use many materials e.g. acrylics, pastels, watercolours and of course pencils as is evident in our exhibit.
Members range in age, between early twenties and early eighties and they have a range of experience and abilities. One common trait that binds them together is they all enjoy producing art.
They meet every Wednesday between 6.15pm-8.15pm at Winlaton Community Centre and anyone is welcome to join them.
Come along to the Heritage Centre on Saturday 29th April, 10am – 4pm to meet some members of the art group in person. Some of the group’s artwork is also available to purchase for a limited period in the Heritage Centre shop, each piece is an original painting (not prints).
‘Meet the Maker’ will be outside under cover of the gazebo unless the weather is cold/rainy – in which case it will be situated inside the Heritage Centre.
