Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the next of our regular ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill. Our next Meet the Maker is with Derwent Candles.
Caroline Wilson is based in Consett, County Durham and works full time as a registered Adult Nurse for the NHS. In her spare time she enjoys making home fragrances including scented candles, wax melts, room sprays and reed diffusers.
Derwent Candles is a small new business established in 2021, all the products are handmade by Caroline in small batches in her home studio.
“The love of fragrances, especially within the home has been with me for some time – I’ve always been creative and wanted to make my own home fragrances. I wanted to use natural ingredients and ensure sustainable products are used. I taught myself to make scented candles by watching others and practising at home.”
The wax used in Caroline’s candles and wax melts is coconut & rapeseed oil and completely free from soy, palm, beeswax, and synthetic additives making her products vegan and cruelty free. The wick is made of cotton and is unbleached, interwoven with a linen thread for excellent scent as well as minimising afterglow and smoke.
The high quality fragrances are all made in the UK using a range of different scents from fresh, fruity, woody and spice to fill your space with beautiful scents
Please come along to Caroline’s Meet the Maker event, where you can buy a wide range of her fragrant products. Caroline will also be available chat to you about her candle making process and the natural ingredients she uses.
Saturday 26th November, 10am – 4pm
Caroline’s products are also available to purchase for a limited period in the Heritage Centre shop.
‘Meet the Maker’ will be outside under cover of the gazebo unless the weather is cold/rainy – in which case it will be situated in the foyer area inside the Heritage Centre.
