Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the next of our regular ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill as we welcome back Beyond the Byre Artisan Jewellery who joined us earlier in the year.
Husband and wife team, David and Carolyn Asquith, specialise in handmade copper, silver and enamel jewellery.
In 2020 they began their jewellery journey creating unique pieces from their dining room table. In September 2021 they moved into their purpose-built studio located on the outskirts of the pretty medieval village of Blanchland, in Northumberland. The stunning views across the moors and Derwent Reservoir, are a constant source of inspiration.
Carolyn works in enamel, creating earrings and pendants from metal clay, alchemy at its best. Her original designs are hand painted and each one is individual. Her signature make is handmade, hand painted enamel daisy and flower earrings.
David is the king of copper, creating bangles, rings and earrings and pendants from pure copper, sterling silver and brass. His handmade jewellery make beautiful accessories for both men and women.
The couple also organise artisan maker events in their local village of Blanchland and have two very special events in October and November this year.

Come along to the Heritage Centre on Saturday 29th October, 10am – 4pm to meet Carolyn and David in person, buy some of their beautiful jewellery or maybe even commission a bespoke piece of jewellery. Some of Beyond the Byre’s jewellery is also available to purchase for a limited period in the Heritage Centre shop, each piece is unique and individually designed.
‘Meet the Maker’ will be outside under cover of the gazebo unless the weather is cold/rainy – in which case it will be situated in the foyer area inside the Heritage Centre.
