Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the first of our new ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre.
Come and meet local illustrator and children’s book author Monique Scott in the gazebo outside the Heritage Centre, just drop by anytime between 10am and 4pm to say hello.
Monique will be available to chat about her illustrated children’s book ‘Two Little Mice’ and illustrations – you can also purchase signed copies of her book along with other artwork, craft packs and greetings cards.
“I started the first initial ideas for my book in late February 2019. The story is based on a true story which includes a powerful message to teach children, using vibrant and beautiful illustrations. In the book, two little mice work very hard, they have to work together as a team, through the good times and the bad, to build their perfect home. The message is to never give up and work hard to make your dreams come true.
I now organise local story time events which are followed by a mini craft session and book signings. It has been a great privilege to share my story and illustrations to the local community and encourage children to enjoy reading and drawing.
In my spare time I create art on canvas, watercolour art and merchandise for my book as well as illustrating children’s books for other local authors.
Over the recent pandemic I have donated my books and other goodies to children’s charities which is also followed by social distancing story time – it is important for children to keep positive and gain good memories at this time.
Drawing is my life and illustrating children’s books is my dream. I would love to share my happy place with all of you.”
