Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the next of our regular ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill. Our next Meet the Maker is artist Valentina Short.
Since moving to Ryton in 2019 and after a long career in the NHS as a mental health nurse, Valentina now enjoys retirement and has re-found her passion for painting.
Painting in acrylics, Valentina is inspired by modern Scottish landscape artists and the rugged Northumberland coastline. An acute observer of the natural world, Valentina is fascinated by the essence of stormy weather and loves trying to capture how the skies and seas around the North East of England make her feel.
Come along to the Heritage Centre on Sunday 1st May 10am – 4pm to meet Valentina in person, buy some of her original artwork and greetings cards or maybe even commission a painting.
Some of Valentina’s artworks and cards are also available to purchase for a limited period in the Heritage Centre shop for the 2 weeks running up to her in person event day.
‘Meet the Maker’ will be outside under cover of the gazebo unless the weather is cold/rainy – in which case it will be situated in the foyer area inside the Heritage Centre.
(Sunday) 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
