Each year, The Big Lunch brings millions of people together across the UK on the first weekend in June.
However, this year is extra special as The Big Lunch is part of the celebrations for His Majesty The King’s Coronation weekend between 6th – 8th May.
Land of Oak & Iron are proud to be joining in with the nation’s celebrations – and we invite you to come along for The Coronation Big Lunch at the Heritage Centre on Saturday 6th May.
As part of our day of celebrations we will be joined by some great local musicians and singers for you to enjoy while you take part in the Big Lunch with refreshments and lunch from our café.
Whittonstall Community Band will be performing in the Courtyard between 10am – 12pm. The band have performed here before, so it’s great to have them back again. They are an all age/ability band, who meet at the church in Whittonstall and play ten (or so) concerts through the year. What a great atmosphere it will be with them here again!
Soprano Julie Pendleton and tenor Chris Wain will be joining us at 3pm! They were a great hit at our Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting event last year and we’re thrilled to welcome them back again to close our Coronation Celebration event with some communal singing of stage songs and their much loved ‘Last Night of the Proms’ rousing finale. Bring your flags and your singing voices!
And you don’t have to miss any of the Coronation itself either – as we will have the televised event playing live on our screen in the café.
Our café will have a great menu with Coronation specials to choose from to eat inside or out in our Courtyard at our ‘street party’ styled tables and seating under the red, white and blue bunting. There will be tasty picnic options and kid’s lunch boxes to enjoy.
Please note our outdoor seating areas (including courtyard, benches and planters) are reserved for customers who have purchased drinks/food from our on site café. Please support us by not bringing your own refreshments – our meadow area or wider country park can be used if you’re bringing your own picnic.
No need to book, just turn up and enjoy the food, fun and friendship – the perfect opportunity to bring people together to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation!
