Event Details

Thursday 5th January 2023 – Wednesday 1st March 2023

Our new exhibition in the ‘Inside Out Gallery’ at the Heritage Centre is ‘Fur & Feathers’ by local artist Margaret (Mags) Robinson.

Mags is a pastel artist based in Shotley Bridge, County Durham. Mags started painting in pastels a few years ago and most of her work is wildlife and loved pets.

“I paint in soft pastel on pastel mat paper and card. My work covers many themes and styles and gives me the opportunity to try different skills and techniques.

I am a relatively unknown name to the world of art, as I only realised I could paint in recent years after joining an art class. I had never painted before – not even at school, but I have always had an artistic flair. As the class began, I could see the improvements each week and how fast I could create something with style and character.

Now one of my specialisms is pet portraits. They say nothing is truer in this world than the love of a good pet. Every pet portrait is painted with love to make sure it is a true reflection of your pet. All I need is a clear photograph so that I can create a lifelike portrait of your beloved pet.”

All the artworks are available to purchase from the exhibition.  Mags also takes commissions for pet portraits.

Please speak to a member of our team if you are interested in any of the works or would like to get in touch with Mags to commission an artwork.
