Event Details

Love music festivals, but hate the travelling, crowds and mud? Enjoy our mini festival in a day in the courtyard at café shrub. Hear traditional folk tunes from our area, alongside contemporary music and discover skiffle – music with jazz, blues and American folk influences, usually played on manufactured and home made or improvised instruments.

Live performances outside in the courtyard (subject to weather) between 11.30am – 1pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm from three local bands:

Kiddars Luck at Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre Mini-Music Festival
Kiddars Luck specialise in songs and tunes from our region but also play their own material. The band are John Dixon, Colin McLelland and Alan Beadle; they play a number of instruments including guitar, whistle, banjo and mandola.
Hop Skiffle & Jump at Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre Mini-Music Festival
Hop, Skiffle and Jump led by Ken Tonge play authentic skiffle music on authentic skiffle instruments – guitars, washboard and tea chest bass. Skiffle became very popular in the UK in the 1950’s.
Bill Elliott & Kevin Youldon at Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre Mini-Music Festival
Bill Elliott and Kevin Youldon have played traditional and contemporary folk music together for 30 years in folk clubs, festivals and concerts. Their instruments include guitars, mandolin, cittern and low whistle.

Timings may vary, performances may be indoors dependant on the weather.
