Event Details

Join artist Marcia Ley for this fascinating workshop learning the print technique of ‘Chine-Colle’.

The word ‘Chine-Colle’ is French, meaning ‘China-Glue’, because the tissue paper used in the technique originally came from China.  Glue was used to stick the tissue to the paper that was going to be printed.

Chine-Colle is a beautiful technique –  adding colour to a black and white print by making a paper collage background to print on.

Both the collage creating and printing over the top are really fun to do and requires no prior experience of printmaking – really beautiful prints can be achieved, each one being unique.

In the session you will make one polystyrene printing plate and up to 6 collaged backgrounds to print on, plus a few test prints.  There will be lots of lovely coloured tissue paper, along with other patterned papers to use for your collage and then different coloured papers to print on.

It can get a little bit messy, so wearing an  apron is recommended .

Tickets are limited to allow quality teaching, so book soon to avoid missing out.
Tickets £32 including all materials and a cup of tea/coffee to enjoy during the workshop.
