Still time to apply for a grant!

The Land of Oak & Iron Community Grants are here to help bring the wonderful heritage of our area to life for local people, living in our communities. So far Land of Oak & Iron has supported nine projects, including Digital Voices who are bringing young and older people together to find old photos, spark memories and start discussions between the different age groups, before going out to take photos of the sites as they are now.

Prudhoe & District Local History Society have been working away to uncover St Mary Magdalene Cemetery from years of undergrowth so they can undertake a research project to find out who’s buried there and discover their stories to share with the wider community. They are already generating a lot of interest locally.

At Path Head Watermill the Land of Oak & Iron grant is being used to upgrade the paths around the site, so that people of all abilities are able to enjoy the whole site, which has a wonderful example of a working watermill.

Look out on our Facebook and Twitter pages, we’re posting photos and images as we visit each project to find out how they are getting on.

The current application round will be closing soon, however there is still time to submit an application before the deadline of Friday 28th April. Full details including the online application form is available on the County Durham Community Foundation website.
