Proposals are invited from suitably experienced musicians for the composition of two new creative and unique pieces of music: one instrumental and one choral. The music will be inspired by the Land of Oak & Iron and its heritage and composed working alongside an identified group of students from a local secondary school. Both of the compositions should be suitable for teaching within secondary schools within the lifetime of the project and for performances at a number of the celebratory events and activities that will punctuate the period of the project. Due to the nature of this project we would welcome proposals from composers and musicians living within the north east of England, with a particular interest in those with connection with the Land of Oak & Iron programme area.
The deadline for responses is 12pm, Wednesday 25 October; full details are available in the Land of Oak & Iron Music – Choral Commission and Land of Oak & Iron Music – Instrumental Commission. For further information please contact Project Manager Grace Crawford, Groundwork NE & Cumbria by email or 01207 524803.
