Friends of the Land of Oak & Iron, volunteering and how we can help your community group!
This week we are focusing on volunteering: we are starting work to set up a new Friends of the Land of Oak & Iron group; carrying out some research to guide us in developing new volunteering opportunities; promoting our current volunteer opportunities and letting you know how we could help you!
We are looking for people to help start a new group, the Friends of the Land of Oak & Iron, which will support the Landscape Partnership through the delivery phase but also be key to the long term sustainability of the Land of Oak & Iron (LOI). The Friends of group will be open and accessible to all, whether you would like to join to keep up to date or take a more proactive role and volunteer on a regular basis. At this stage, we would like to set up a steering group of interested people to develop the group, make decisions about how it will run and what it will do and prepare draft terms of reference to be presented to the Executive Board in the autumn. We intend to have the first meeting in the next few weeks, if you would like to be involved in these early stages please let Kath know by Friday 29th July.
Please would you spare a couple of minutes to complete a short survey of 7 multiple choice questions, about volunteering with the Land of Oak & Iron: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LOI-vol. The survey has been designed by Nick Hutchinson, who has been volunteering with LOI and is undertaking a Masters in Business Administration. The results will be invaluable in guiding our volunteering offer, Nick is offering a £20 Amazon voucher to one lucky participant, the deadline for completion is Friday 29th July.
Current volunteering opportunities include woodland conservation volunteering with Peter in August and more Geology & Wildlife Surveyors FREE training sessions from September, more details are available on all these on the events page.
