The proposed Crowley’s entrance sculpture will resemble a double helix made from a giant steel chain. A giant natural form made from industrial components. A chain made of chains.

The idea for the sculpture by the artist Andrew McKeown, came through work with Winlaton West Lane Primary School where Andrew and the children explored the idea of chains and the history of Winlaton Mill. The new heritage centre will tell the hidden story of Winlaton Mill and the sculpture aims to highlight this industrial heritage; a chain of events leading to the formation of an industrial giant and a new village. The fascinating history of Winlaton Mill hidden within the genetic code of its people.
