Chopwell WoodFest Returns
Looking for something different to do this weekend? Chopwell WoodFest returns for a second year in the Derwent Valley and you could be enjoying crafts, entertainment and other delights for all the family.
This Sunday, 8 July, between 10.30am and 4pm, you’ll be able to try your hand at a new ‘old’ skill, such as spinning wool, weaving willow, turning a clay pot and traditional wood working. In the bush craft dell children of all ages can enjoy toasting marshmallows, building dens and discover a whole host of other natural activities. There are even Alpaca’s to take for a walk, pre-booking is advisable for this as there are limited places, additional charges apply.
Entrance is just £2 per adult with all children admitted free of charge. There is parking at a cost of £5 per car just a 10 minute walk from the main entrance, alternatively there will be bike stands. There are regular buses to Chopwell and High Spen from where you can walk – visit http://jplanner.travelinenortheast.info/ to plan your route. Free parking is available in Chopwell with clearly marked walking routes to the event.
You are welcome to bring your own picnic or buy refreshments from one of the food stands, there will be wood-fired pizza, vegan curry, hog roast and BBQ, drinks and ice cream. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates.
