Celebrate the Region’s Generosity with the Land of Oak & Iron
Next month come and find out more about the history of philanthropy in the Derwent Valley, whilst having the opportunity to give something back yourself.
Our free event “Do philanthropists get their hands dirty?” is on Monday 12 November at 10.30am – 2pm with Peter Downes, our Access & Woodland Officer. It will offer people an opportunity to get their hands dirty whilst learning about managing the woodlands, as well as hearing about Ambrose Crowley, a great industrialist in the 18 century who is still known for his enlightened management methods and philanthropic approach to his workforce.
The event is one of 50 events taking place across the region in November, as part of the Community Foundation and Newcastle University’s GeNErosity Festival, celebrating the history and role of philanthropy and giving across the region, which has helped to shape the North East today.
This event is free, but please book your place by 5th November.
