The first Land of Oak & Iron volunteer tasks have been arranged as part of the Woodland Restoration programme. These will be held on four days across June – August between 10.30 am to 2.30 pm at Milkwellburn Wood near Blackhall Mill and are open to everyone. Peter Downes, the Land of Oak & Iron Access and Woodland Officer will be leading the tasks and said, “Everyone is welcome to come along, we will be working in the woods carrying out maintenance tasks, full instructions will be given so you don’t need any experience”. Volunteers are asked to contact Peter if they would like to attend to make sure he has enough tools and gloves, which will also be provided. Volunteers will need to wear stout footwear and suitable clothes, bring a drink and packed lunch and are advised to check the weather forecast and come prepared for sun or rain!
