Event Details

Get creative with this beautiful little workshop inside our cosy café shrub as evening falls.

During this 2 hour workshop, textile artist Jessica Kinnersley will show you how to create a miniature stitched abstract landscape.

Working with a small photograph, pre-printed onto cotton, we will develop our landscapes, exploring texture and colour, using small snippets of cloth and some simple hand embroidery stitches. You can also add some whimsical words to your landscape, using snippets from Jessica’s old books.

Once completed, the stitched collages are wrapped around a vintage wooden bobbin, which can then be hung or displayed in the home or given as a gift.

All materials are provided in small kits although there will be some shared materials available too. Whilst some knowledge of basic sewing is useful, it is not essential and beginners are very welcome!

You will be treated to a glass of wine and nibbles to enjoy during this sociable workshop with the option to purchase more from the café.

Limited places available. Cost £47.50 including materials, glass of wine and nibbles.

Perfect workshop to treat yourself, come with a friend or as a gift for someone special.

Booking essential.

About the artist:  Jessica Kinnersley is a local textile artist who creates mixed media pieces using vintage linens, papers and found objects. She is inspired by the things she finds, which often inform the scale and theme of a piece. Lovingly repurposed; her work often features stitched musings and printed images, layered to create nostalgic textile art and collages

The Heritage Centre and all our events are fully risk assessed and Covid-19 compliant.

Social distancing will be in place for both the artist/makers and participants.  We have enhanced cleaning regimes in place, sanitiser and hand gel is available at both entrances to the Heritage Centre and face coverings to be worn when entering the building to use toilets, shop area and café shrub.
